Andrew Targowski was engaged in the development of societal computing in totalitarian Poland (INFOSTRADA network and Social Security # for 38 million citizens-PESEL, 1972).
He investigates the role of information-communication in enterprise, economy, civilization, and the universe. He introduced to the theory of civilization a new element which is infrastructure bedsides society and culture. Particularly information infrastructure (his specialty) dominates nowadays the civilizational activities and development.
During the 1990s, he was a director of the TeleCITY of Kalamazoo Project. Professor of business information systems at Western Michigan University. President of the International Society for the Comparative Study of Civilizations (2007-2013). Former chairman of the Advisory Council of the Information Resources Management Association (1995-2005).
