Robert Bedeski has written books and articles on Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Mongolian politics and history. His most recent books are Prolonging Existence: Lessons from Genghis Khan and a Theory of Life Security, and Dynamics of the Korean state: From the Paleolithic Era to Candlelight Democracy.

He is currently writing a book on how states are replacing civilizations as the matrix of human existence. His chief research and writing interest are the evolution and formation of the nation-state in Asia.
